Project Description
Oleander Cabinet
This piece has its origin in a collection of oleander leaves that I returned with from France last year, having the intention of incorporating them in some way in a piece of furniture.
The result is a pair of display cabinets that we made in beautiful English walnut from a tree which fell down during a winter storm on the estate where the workshops are based. The timber had been seasoning in the drying shed for over ten years waiting for a worthy project. These exceptional boards seemed to lend themselves for this design.
These eye catching pieces have a burnished oil finish and have patinated brass rods to the top and bottom of the cabinet with a matching finish to the hinges and handles.
The backs of the cabinets are lined with birds eye sycamore and decorated with an overlay of the simple shape of the Oleander leaves protected behind a sheet of non reflective glass.
